Learning Styles Activity Blog # 3

For my learning style activity I decided to use my learning style strengths witch were in tactile learning and visual. Since I an a hands on learner I decided to use an activity that could be implemented for children that need to physically do and see what they are instructed to do. I chose to use shaving cream on a desk or table and have the kids use their finger to draw the letters in their names. I think this activity is good for teaching children the letters of the alphabet and helping them learn how to draw the letters, plus it is fun and I believe it is a fun activity to keep the students engaged.
The pictures below show the letters that are drawn on paper and how the shaving cream can be used to help the children draw letters with their fingers.

Learning Styles

I was not surprised to find that I am a tactile learner. This means I learn by doing hands on activities and seeing what I am physically doing. This does not surprise me because of my athletic background over the years. I can learn new plays or strategies in football practice easier than I can learn from setting in class and hearing how to do it. As a teacher I will know how I learn the easiest, but also I will do my best to support all learning styles so every child has a chance to learn in the way that best suits them. Personally I know how frustrating it can be, to be given a set of instructions and not understand how to apply them. A lot of times I felt like if someone could just show me what they wanted me to do, I could achieved the desired results more easily.

Chapter 1 Inclusive Education

After reading over the chapter I feel inclusion is supporting all the individual needs of each child within the group. That means the teacher should create lessons that allow each child to achieve their personal best. For example instead of comparing students to one another, the teacher needs to support an environment that creates personal growth. The important part is seeing improvement in each child over a period of time and making sure that the lessons that are being taught and assigned allow them to achieve success and reach their personal best.

About me

Hey everyone, sorry I am late. My name is Dennis Dent and I am a Physical Education major. I am from Edina, Mo and  I enjoy just about everything related to sports or movement in general. I grew in a farming community so I also enjoy everything about the outdoors. My hobbies include playing football at Westminster and I also help with small activities with preschool kids at my sisters day care back in my home town.  I hope to some day be a college basketball coach because I love college sports, especially basketball.
I have an exceptional problem with learning how to use technology as you all might already know due to how long it has taken me to set up my blog page. And that is about it..
